I began my writing career as a community newspaper reporter in New Paltz, New York, after graduating from Kirkland College (now co-ed Hamilton College) where I majored in English and Creative Writing. News reporting was a great way to learn about writing and deadlines, and was one of the best-- and most demanding-- jobs I ever had. From there I jumped to marriage, New York City, and an editorial position at a trade magazine called Modern Paint and Coatings! Wow, was that a leap, but I learned a lot about how magazines work. Next came the fabulous American Photographer, where I worked as an editor and writer for six years. And then, off to the New Jersey suburbs to freelance, raise three sons, and turn my attention, heart, and writing to the subject of parenting and lately, yoga. The journey has been grand.

My articles, essays, and reviews have appeared in Parenting, Parents, Child, Publishers Weekly, Redbook, Country Living, Family Life, Sesame Street Parents, Edutopia, Target: The Family, Working Mother, American Photo, Special Report: Family, Your Family, The Parent Paper, About Our Children, and on such websites as mothering.com, yourbabytoday.com, spiritvoyage.com, Elephant Journal, and Huffington Post.
